The Volmer Group is based in the Institute of Chemistry at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Our research focuses on biological mass spectrometry, separation techniques and instrument development. The team applies innovative instrumental developments to research in metabolomics and lipidomics, with particular emphasis on measuring indicators or biomarkers of disease and nutritional status. We also develop novel ionization methods and study ion/molecule chemistry and interactions of biological macromolecules with small ligands. Finally, the group specializes on the analysis of very complex samples using high resolution mass spectrometry.
